The Village of Glen Ellyn (pop. 27,450) is a vibrant, historic community seeking experienced, progressive candidates to apply for the position of Stormwater Engineer - Development. The Village, located 23 miles west of Chicago in DuPage County, is a premier suburb with a charming blend of neighborhoods, open space, commercial corridors and a thriving downtown district. The position reports to the Building and Zoning Official. Candidates will perform various civil engineer functions including review of plans, inspection of construction, and preparation of design drawings; must be able to interpret maps, legal descriptions and engineering elevation surveys and will handle reviews of LOMR and LOMA for private property. Acts as the Village’s official Stormwater and Flood Plain Ordinance Administrator. The successful candidate must possess strong communication skills. A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required along with five years experience inspecting construction and design review, CFM preferred. Illinois Professional Engineer certification is required. Starting salary for this 30 hour a week position is $52,500; benefit is pension only.
