The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is the professional and educational organization representing appointed managers and administrators in local governments throughout the world.

 

The lllinois Association of Municipal Management Assistants (IAMMA) represents professionals working in municipal management throughout the State of Illinois. IAMMA's membership includes professionals serving as assistant administrators/managers, administrative interns, assistant department managers and directors in Illinois municipalities, counties, and councils of government.

 

Established in 1914, the Illinois Municipal League allows membership to any city, village, or incorporated town in the State of Illinois.

 

Illinois Government Finance Officers Association (IGFOA)
The IGFOA was founded in 1958 and is dedicated to enhancing the quality and efficiency of government. The IGFOA has a membership of over 750 members comprised of public finance officers, auditors, accountants, bankers, and others interested in public finance in the State of Illinois.

 

The National Forum for Black Public Administrators - Chicago Chapter is a progressive group of professionals whose vision is improving public service, developing leadership skills, fostering relationships that lead to long term partnerships, and effecting change in the community.

 

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is the professional association of state/provincial and local finance officers in the United States and Canada. The association's 14,100 members are dedicated to the sound management of government financial resources.

 

The Local Government Partnership is a collaborative effort of the East-West Gateway Council of Governments and the University of Missouri designed to provide technical assistance, training and information to local government officials in the eight-county, bi-state, metropolitan St. Louis region and local governments around the state of Missouri. It is our hope that the information posted here will also prove interesting and useful to government officials beyond our regional borders.

The Government Management Information Sciences of Illinois (GMIS Illinois) is a professional Information Technology organization that promotes the sharing of ideas among government agencies.  Many of our members are the decision-makers and technologists from various government organizations across the State of Illinois. Members come from municipalities, county, educational, library, and park district organizations.
LocalGovNews.org functions as a clearinghouse of links to information (news, publications and reports) relevant to organizations working at the local level.

The Mission of LocalGovNews.org is to assist professionals working at the local level with their goal of fostering an organizational culture that looks beyond jurisdictional and organizational boundaries, thus encouraging cooperation, collaboration and innovation.

LocalGovNews.org is an affiliate organization serving the Illinois Municipal League membership in addition to many other local organizations.
