The City of Crystal Lake would like to share with you an exciting employment opportunity for the Director of Information Technology due to the upcoming retirement of our current director.

The City of Crystal Lake, with a population of 40,269, is the largest community in McHenry County and is a city with a rich history, rewarding quality of life and tremendous community spirit. Located 50 miles northwest of Chicago and home to two Metra stations, Crystal Lake residents enjoy the many employment, cultural, and recreational opportunities of a major metropolitan city, yet live in a pleasant, small-town atmosphere.  The City is a politically and financially stable home-rule community that covers 18.7 square miles, that is seeking a forward-thinking Director of Information Technology with a passion for advancing the City’s goals and priorities, a strong commitment to public service, and exceptional customer service standards to play a strategic role with the leadership and direction of the Information Technology Department.

The City is rated AAA and has a current annual budget (all funds) of over $100 million, with over 360 full-time, part-time, and seasonal personnel.  The Director of Information Technology reports directly to the City Manager and leads a department of 3 full-time contract personnel.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented IT management professional to make a difference in a high-performing organization that employs the use of best practices.  The fiscal year 2022-23 salary range for this position is $112,702 – $171,420, commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience.  This position will remain open until filled.  Applications will be considered as they are received.
