The City of DeKalb, Illinois is seeking a City Engineer to join our team! The City Engineer oversees and manages staff and contractors in the administration of municipal engineering and public works projects, traffic engineering, infrastructure planning and design, utilities and streets design, construction and maintenance, capital improvement planning, project management and review of new development plans for municipal ordinance requirements.
The City Engineer is a senior-level management position who reports to the Public Works Director. The City Engineer will lead and supervise Engineering division staff, provide oversight to on-site contractors and act as a liaison to public agencies, engineering consultants, public utilities, developers, residents, the City Manager, and elected officials.
We require a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a State of IL Professional Engineer (PE) license or a valid PE license from another state with the ability to obtain an Illinois State licensure within 12 months of hire, and a minimum of six years of progressive experience.
The starting salary for the position is $112,864 +/- commensurate with knowledge, skills and experience, The full salary range for the position is $112,864-$163,655.
