Summer Engineering Intern – NIU Student
The City of DeKalb is partnering with Northern Illinois University (NIU) and offering a summer engineering internship that is grant funded through the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) work grant study program. Candidates must be a full-time, undergraduate student at Northern Illinois University with a permanent residence in Illinois. The Engineering Intern is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in the field of engineering to gain hands-on experience within the field!
Assist with updating engineering records and reports, collecting and tabulating traffic study data, assisting with traffic surveys, and providing contractor oversight. Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree from NIU, have a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record. College coursework towards an engineering degree preferred.
The Engineering Intern is a temporary, full-time, summer position that will average 35 to 40 hours per week. The internship is scheduled to run mid-May 2023 to mid-August 2023. Works hours will be agreed upon with the City Engineer and will generally between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour.
