Position Overview:

  • Title: Development Services Coordinator
  • Expected Salary: $80,172 – $95,000 DOQ

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Management: Efficiently manage personnel, resources, and projects related to permitting, contractor registration, and express permit plan review processes.
  • Financial Oversight: Ensure quality control and security of financial transactions performed by permit technician staff.
  • Team Leadership: Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and provide training and coaching to permit technician staff.
  • Customer Service: Provide high-quality service and expedient processing to parties involved in permitting and contractor registration. Handle complex customer concerns and resolve escalated complaints.
  • Operational Support: Monitor front counter activities, assist with issues, and involve department supervisors as needed. Provide knowledge and assistance to applicants and colleagues.
  • System Management: Operate and troubleshoot municipal New World and Energov software related to permitting, plan review, and payment processing.

Typical Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business, finance, construction management, or a related field, with at least three years of progressively responsible experience. Supervisory experience is a plus. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Technical Knowledge: Experience processing building permit applications and completing plan reviews for various permits, including over-the-counter and express permits. Familiarity with zoning requirements and the International Residential Code (2015 & 2021 editions) is required.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Skilled in dispute resolution and managing diverse groups.
  • Operational Skills: Ability to function under pressure, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and learn new software programs.
