Foreman – Streets & Grounds Maintenance

Expected Starting Rate: $95,000 – $105,000 +/- Qualifications.
What you’ll do:
- Supervises and performs required labor as part of a public works crew including the mowing of grass; the cultivating, pruning, spraying, trimming, and removing of trees and other vegetation upon all City ground and parkways.
- Directs leaf collection and yard debris pick-up program, snow removal, street sweeping, and de-icing activities as the season/weather dictates.
- Supervises and directs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Evaluates and implements corrective actions as necessary to ensure conduct and performance of personnel conform to all City and departmental rules, regulations, and policies
We need someone who has:
- A High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Considerable knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities; working knowledge of the principles and practices of effective supervision and administration.
- Ability to train and supervise subordinate personnel in the duties of their position
- State of Illinois Class “A” (CDL) Driver’s License with Airbrake and Tanker endorsement is required within 120 days of employment. The CDL License with the endorsement must be maintained by the position holder at all times.
- Arborist Certification, or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
