Position Overview:

  • Title: Part-Time Communications and Events Assistant
  • Salary: $15.00 – $25.00 per hour, +/- Qualifications

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Event Planning & Execution: Partner with our team to bring exciting city-sponsored events to life. From securing sponsors to coordinating vendors and entertainment, you’ll be at the heart of it all.
  • Digital & Print Communications: Assist in maintaining our website, distributing e-newsletters, and creating compelling content for print, digital, and social media platforms.
  • Community Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with community members, ensuring our events and communications reflect the vibrant spirit of Des Plaines.
  • Team Support: Provide essential support to our team through staff training and administrative assistance as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent, with at least three years of experience in event planning, communications, or marketing.
  • Creative Skills: Strong writing skills and the ability to create engaging content for various platforms. Basic knowledge of graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva is a plus.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, community members, and external partners.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work at all city-sponsored events, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Driver’s License: Valid State of Illinois Class “D” Driver’s License with a good driving record.
