This City of Evanston is looking to hire a Public Services Bureau Chief. This is an administrative and technical position responsible for the oversight and management of the Public Services Bureau, which consists of five divisions (Streets, Greenways, Recycling and Environmental, Traffic, and Forestry) a Public Services Coordinator, Administrative Lead, Solid Waste Coordinator, and a Project management Supervisor This position will actively participate in the oversight and management of the maintenance of the City streets and alleys, traffic and street lights, signs, forestry operations, park maintenance, environmental programs, recycling operations, resource conservation initiatives, including field operations, and capital project development within the Public Works Agency. Develops and directs projects including scope, schedule, budget, design and construction; manages, directs, and provides leadership to professional staff administering assigned projects; provides leadership and direction to suppliers of construction services, materials, and equipment; acts as liaison between consultants, contractors and City officials; makes presentations to neighborhood groups and/or City Council committees, boards or commissions regarding project plans and progress. Responsible for the Bureau’s general operating budget, financial reporting and recordkeeping, personnel administration, and supervision of administrative and professional staff.
Must possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field and seven (7) or more years of work experience in project management, operations, and administration related to the above; ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible experience of public works functions with experience in project management, operations, and administration related to the above will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Must possess or be willing and able to obtain a National Incident Management System (NIMS) ICS 100, 200, 300 & 400 and IS 700 and 800 Certification within 36 months of hire and maintain it as a condition of employment.
Job Type: Full-time (37.5 Hours per week)
Salary: $137,000 annually +/-
