Job Description:
The City of Naperville is looking for an accounting professional to perform government accounting and internal audit work; including maintenance of the general ledger, reconciliation of bank accounts and preparation of financial reports.
Responsibilities:
Some of the responsibilities will include: Reviews bank accounts for directly deposited funds and ensures that cash receipts are posted appropriately, Prepares monthly bank reconciliations, Reconciles various accounting related software applications to ensure consistent and appropriate recording of financial transactions, Prepares adjusting journal entries, when needed, Performs research and accounting tasks in accordance with GASB standards for leases and subscription-based information technology arrangements, Prepares all necessary work papers for the annual financial audit, coordinates audit activities with the City’s independent auditor, and prepares year-end adjusting journal entries as needed, Reviews City accounting procedures to improve internal controls, assure conformity to policy, and increase effectiveness, Performs special projects assigned by the Finance Director and/or other management personnel.
Qualifications:
Required: · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field · Three years of experience in a related field Preferred: · Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license · Government accounting experience
