Seasonal Maintenance Interns
The City of Rolling Meadows is seeking Public Works seasonal maintenance workers within the Public Works Department in 2023, generally between March and November. Positions are available in three (3) divisions including Streets and Operations, Underground Utilities and Water, and Facilities. Applicants must be 18 year or older, be able to read and write at a 12th-grade level, have a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License, be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Interns assist with a wide range of responsibilities that generally include both inside and outside work in the community, answering requests for service, interoffice mail distribution, assistance with community event set up and take down, and data collection using GIS technology. More specific examples of responsibilities in each division are as follows:
- Streets and Operations. Assists with street and pothole maintenance, landscape maintenance, sign installation, tree maintenance and removal, and refuse and yard waste pickup.
- Underground Utilities and Water. Assists with installation and repair of underground water, storm and sanitary utilities, fire hydrant flushing, water meter installations and assisting with water production and distribution functions.
- Facilities. Performs general housekeeping and assists with building, vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair tasks for the City’s properties and fleets.

Salary is $14.00 – $20.00 per hour / D.O.Q.
