The City of West Chicago is seeking to fill a vacant Mechanic position in the Public Works Department with its Fleet Maintenance Division. The selected candidate in this position will diagnose and perform maintenance and repair on a wide range of city vehicles, mechanical and motorized equipment, as well as snow removal equipment by ensuring the safe and efficient operation of city equipment and vehicles across multiple departments. This role involves various skilled and semi-skilled automotive and equipment repairs, encompassing automobiles, trucks, and select heavy equipment.
Applicants must be 18 years of age, high school graduate or equivalent. A valid State of Illinois Driver’s License is required and a CDL Class B license with a Tanker Endorsement and without an Air Brakes Restriction shall be required within six (6) months of hire date. A minimum of one year of journey level experience performing minor and major equipment repair duties including experience in the maintenance of both diesel and gas powered equipment.
