DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, Transportation Project Manager

The DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference (DMMC), a council of governments representing thirty-five municipalities in DuPage County, IL is seeking a motivated, responsible, energetic individual for the position of Transportation Project Manager.  Excellent benefits including retirement contribution, medical/dental/vision insurance, STD/LTD/life coverage, paid time off, and opportunities for flexible schedule and work from home.  Starting salary expected to be $70k – $73k.

Description of Responsibilities

The Transportation Project Manager oversees transportation planning and programming activities on behalf of DMMC members, assists with project management on regional studies, provides assistance to members in preparing transportation grant applications for federal and state programs and acts as a liaison for members to various federal, state, county and regional transportation agencies. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

  • Advocate on behalf of members to the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and other transportation and planning agencies.
  • Manage the $17-18 M annual Surface Transportation Program (STP) for the DuPage Council of Mayors, including oversight of project funding and implementation.
  • Monitor transportation programs including the Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality Program (CMAQ), the Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP), Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP), Local Technical Assistance Program and the Community Planning Program to ensure member access and understanding.
  • Assist with managing various DMMC led initiatives, including the implementation and updating of DMMC transportation planning documents as well as workshop development and facilitation.
  • Disseminate information and present policy recommendations to DMMC membership via the monthly transportation committee meetings.
  • Prepare agendas and minutes for various committees and working groups.
  • Identifying and promoting additional grant opportunities to the membership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director.

 

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.  Master’s degree preferred but not required.

A successful candidate for the position will also demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Strong ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Solid organizational skills, including the ability to work independently.
  • Interest in working as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with elected and appointed local government officials and transportation professionals.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state transportation, environment, and economic development programs and agencies is a plus but not required.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism while representing DMMC and its membership.
