The Village of Carol Stream, Illinois, seeks a motivated, public service-oriented individual for the position of part-time Communications Coordinator working 25-hours per week. Working within the department of Administration, responsibilities of this new position involve public communication efforts via website, social media, media outreach and other communication initiatives, as well as all aspects of special event coordination.
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of public relations and event planning, preferably within a municipal environment, the ability to create and modify content within social media and web platforms, as well as strong communication skills. The capacity to work independently and collaborate with others inside and outside of the department is essential.
Qualified individuals must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications or related field;
- A minimum of one year of related experience;
- Possession of a valid Illinois Driver’s License;
- Knowledge in the use of computer applications and social media platforms
Any equivalent combination of education and related experience will be considered.
Starting compensation for this position is $31.09 per hour, with eligibility for participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, although there are occasional evening and weekend events. Schedule flexibility may be available and would be discussed between the selected candidate and their supervisor. This role is not remote.
