Hourly Pay: Pay range for the position is $27.00-$37.25/hour; however starting hourly rate will be between $27.00-$33.15, depending on qualifications and experience.

Job Summary: The Village of Carpentersville is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to work in the Building Maintenance division of the Public Works Department. Under the supervision of the Building Maintenance Superintendent, the Building Maintenance Technician will perform technical and complex building maintenance repairs, troubleshooting, and alterations involving HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, and miscellaneous mechanical systems; light carpentry; furniture repair & assembly; door & lock repair; appliance repair, and other duties as assigned.
This is a union position, covered by SEIU 73. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00am-3:00pm. Additionally, the employee must be the have ability to work overtime and respond to after-hour and weekend emergency calls on a rotating basis.
Requirements: This position requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. with vocational or technical HVAC/R Certification and four years of residential and commercial field experience. This position requires a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License and a 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification is required upon hire.
The successful candidate must have the ability to carry, lift, push, or drag up to 50 pounds from a standing or bent over position, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close and distant visual acuity, peripheral vision, binocular vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
