The Village of Elburn, Illinois, is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker I. This position is a full-time staff level employee in the Public Works Department and reports directly to the Public Works Crew Leader(s). The position is responsible for all aspects of work performed by the Public Works Department, as assigned.
Duties include the maintenance of streets, parks, buildings, trees, potable water system, wastewater treatment plant, stormwater systems, and snow plowing. This position operates vehicles, motorized equipment, and uses a variety of tools/equipment. The incumbent of this position may be called out on a 24-hour basis during Village emergencies, as necessary.
This position requires the ability to work overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays, perform heavy lifting and manual tasks, and work in inclement weather.
Desired qualifications include, but are not limited to, the possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license (must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within six months of hire date), water and/or wastewater classification licenses a plus, completion of high school or equivalent, and vocational training or two years related work experience. Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, vehicle, and mechanical maintenance is also desired.
The successful candidate shall be able to demonstrate an ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment.

Anticipated hiring range is approximately $22.50 – $24.75 an hour depending on experience and qualifications.
