WATER & SEWER MAINTENANCE WORKER

The Village of Glendale Heights has a position available for Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department, Water & Sewer Division.

Inspects and/or repairs booster pumping stations, reservoirs, meters, sanitary sewer system, sanitary lift stations and other similar and related equipment at frequent intervals to insure that all aspects of the systems are functioning properly.

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, repair, maintenance and replacement of water and sewer lines.  Inspects and/or repairs streets, sidewalks, parkways and divisional equipment at frequent intervals to insure that all aspects of the systems are functioning properly.  Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, etc.

Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, street repairs, water and sewer lines repairs, work completed, etc.  Operates light and medium-sized construction and power equipment, such as electric rodders, jetter/inductor truck or backhoe/loader.  Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and two years of experience relating to construction, maintenance, or repair or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid State Driver’s license, with the appropriate CDL certifications, is preferred. The successful candidate will be required to follow the terms and conditions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 (49 USCA 2717 et seq.) and all related Village Policies.

Hourly Rate:  $27.25 – $36.74, commensurate with qualification and experience.
