The La Grange Public Works Department is seeking full-time Crew Leader to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance of water and sewer systems and oversee General Utility Workers within their assigned area of responsibility.
The La Grange Public Works Department is a fully career department staffed with 22 personnel. Under the general supervision of the Foreman, the Crew Leader position oversees General Utility Workers in the following divisions: Grounds/Forestry/Central Business District, Streets/Sewer Structures, Water Sewer Systems, and Buildings/Street Lights.
The position requires general construction knowledge and the ability to operate a variety of heavy trucks and equipment for the repair, maintenance and construction of the Village’s infrastructure. Desired skills for the position includes general knowledge of water, sewer and street reconstruction, concrete forming and finishing, and tree trimming and maintenance. Snow plowing experience is a plus. Must have an excellent work record and be able to work overtime and be accessible during off work hours for emergencies.
Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or GED. Prior experience as a General Utility Worker, laborer, maintenance worker, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Qualified candidates must possess a State of Illinois Class C Responsible Water Operators License. The position requires the ability to obtain an Illinois Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsement within six (6) months of employment.
The salary range for this position is $77,084.80 to $87,588.80. The Village offers a generous benefit package including but not limited to:
