The Village of Machesney Park (pop. 22,950) is seeking qualified candidates for the Finance & HR Generalist position. The Generalist will assist the Finance & HR Director with a variety of finance and accounting functions, including payroll, and implementing HR policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Generalist will also assist in organizational development, employee relations, technology, and talent management.
Essential Functions:
- Payroll – Process timesheets and bi-weekly payroll, prepare quarterly and annual reports
- Journal Entries – Prepare adjusting journal entries and file journal vouchers
- Accounts Payable and Cash Disbursements – Assist in reviewing, coding and entering invoices; semi-monthly warrant reports; prepare 1099 forms
- Information Technology Management – Manage contracted IT service provider
- Financial Tracking and Periodic Reporting – Assist with periodic and annual financial audits; prepare monthly revenue report
- Human Resources – Assist Finance & HR Director with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or related field
- 3-5 years’ financial accounting and reporting experience
- Payroll processing experience required
Salary and Benefits:
This is a full-time hourly position with an excellent benefit package including health insurance, IMRF pension, vacation time, and paid holidays and sick days. Starting rate is $26.44 to $31.25 DOQ.
