Village of Northbrook, Senior Clerk

The Village of Northbrook’s Finance Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Senior Clerk. Under the direction of the Deputy CFO, this full-time position is responsible for performing various finance and administrative tasks in the accounts payable and other finance functions of the Village. Responsibilities include but are not limited to approving and entering invoices and payments for accounts payable, reconciling bank accounts and assisting with the month-end close process, relieving main cashier/switchboard, and various seasonal/special projects. This position will interact extensively with other co-workers, vendors and customers to provide customer service and resolve issues.

Minimum requirements include High School diploma or GED and two years of accounts payable or other financial experience, preferably in a municipal setting. Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.  A combination of education and experience will be considered.  This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent analytical problem-solving, customer-service and communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel.

Starting salary is $55,000 +/- depending on experience and qualifications. The Village also offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes pension (IMRF), health & dental Insurance, life insurance and generous leave benefits.  Required work hours include Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
