Position Overview
The Graduate Engineer I is responsible for performing professional and technical duties related to the planning, review, approval, and oversight of public and private infrastructure projects. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that civil engineering assignments adhere to best practices and comply with state and municipal regulations. This role operates under the direction of the Deputy Public Works Director/Village Engineer. Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
- Engineering-In-Training (EIT) Certification required.
- Two years of professional project management experience, preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering and surveying principles.
- Familiarity with municipal government functions and infrastructure design.
- Proficient in GIS and project management tools.
- Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects efficiently.

- Graduate Engineer II: Salary Range: $76,086–$108,042
- Requires passing the Principles and Practice of Engineering Exam.

- Requires Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Assistant Village Engineer: Salary Range: $89,079–$133,619
- Requires 2 years of municipal engineering experience, PE certification, and Floodplain Manager certification.
