The Village of Roselle, Illinois (population 22,921) is looking for full-time Assistant Director of Public Works to join our forward-thinking Public Works Department. What You’ll Do
As the Assistant Director, you’ll be at the heart of our department, collaborating closely with the Director of Public Works and stepping in as Acting Director when needed. You’ll be responsible for key leadership tasks, including:
- Strategic Leadership: Contribute to budget development, collective bargaining, and the execution of the Village’s Strategic Plan.
- Cross-Department Coordination: Act as a liaison between departments, external agencies, and workgroups, ensuring smooth operations.
- Community Engagement: Address resident inquiries and represent the Village at various forums.
- Project Management: Lead capital improvement initiatives, manage contracts, and oversee major construction and maintenance projects.
- Operational Excellence: Supervise payroll, GIS/asset management, safety compliance, training, and staff management while driving innovation.
What We’re Looking For
Our ideal candidate has:
- A degree in business, public administration, construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (associate or bachelor’s level).
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in Public Works or a similar field (or a combination of education and experience).
- A passion for leadership and a commitment to serving our community.
