Village of Savoy, Marketing and Communications

Incorporated on April 10, 1956, the Village of Savoy is a home rule Illinois municipal corporation with a population of 8,857. The Village seeks a creative, innovative, and professional individual to serve as the Village’s first Marketing and Communications Manager (MCM). This is a salaried, full-time, and exempt position. The MCM is a visible member of Village staff and will lead various communications and marketing projects, including the Village’s brand development initiatives. The MCM also serves as the Village’s spokesperson and public information officer.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
  • Must possess the ability to strictly maintain confidential information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, public administration, business administration, communications, marketing, English, journalism, public relations, or a related discipline.
  • 2 years of directly related experience in media relations; communications; marketing; or public relations.
  • Prior completion of, or the ability to complete within 6 months of hiring, the following courses: IS-29.A: Public Information Officer Awareness; IS-42.A: Social Media in Emergency Management; IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System; IS-200.C: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response; IS-242.C: Effective Communication; and IS- 700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and to respond to emergencies within 15 minutes of notification.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in advertising, public administration, business administration, marketing, communications, English, journalism, public relations, or a related discipline.
  • 5 years of directly related experience in media relations; communications; marketing; or public relations.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $55,000 to $75,000, depending on qualifications. Additionally, the Village offers free individual membership to the Village’s Recreation Center and offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid vacation; sick leave; holiday pay; individual life insurance; 100% employer-paid employee health, dental, and vision insurance (employee pays 50% for dependents); and enrollment in Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. Village residency is preferred but not required.
