Village of Streamwood, Office Assistant

The Village of Streamwood is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Office Assistant. This is varied, semi-skilled clerical, fiscal, customer relations, and office coordination work, which includes word processing, data entry, and spreadsheet applications; creating and updating filing systems; posting; record keeping; and receptionist duties. Other duties of a general office nature are also performed and usually require the operation of standard office machines, including a personal computer. An employee of this class is assigned to customer relations work involving considerable public contact. Work may also involve responsibility for performing clerical work that requires the application of record-keeping principles and practices and the maintenance of utility billing and other records.

Qualifications: Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited college, university, or technical school, OR one to two years related experience and/or training; strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel; keyboarding 30 wpm; and ability to pass a background examination.

Residency Requirement: Must live in those portions of the State of Illinois north of I-80 and east of State Route 51 and/or I-39 within 12 months of hire.

Salary and Benefits: This is a unionized, non-exempt position with a starting salary of $44,439 and the top salary of $70,044. Applications received after the deadline will not be eligible to take the Civil Service Examination, which will be conducted on the evening of Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Applicants will be notified of the testing place and time by email and/or U.S. Mail postcard.
