The Village of Wauconda is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Works Superintendent of Operations. This is a full-time, exempt position that provides leadership and direct management of the daily operations of streets, water and wastewater divisions. Under the supervision of the Director of Public Works, the successful candidate will be responsible for the scheduling, management and supervision of daily activities for 14 full-time employees as well as several part time and seasonal employees in the Public Works department.
The successful candidate will meet the following position requirements:
- Possess a valid Illinois Class B Commercial driver’s license with tanker and air brake endorsements. An Illinois EPA Water Operator Class C certification is required or must be obtained within the first year of employment; additionally, a Wastewater Class 4 certification is preferred.
- An Associate’s degree is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, public administration or closely related field. A combination of skills, education and experience may be acceptable in lieu of educational requirements.
- Minimum of five years of Public Works or related experience; demonstrated involvement in a leadership role for a minimum of three years.
The salary range for this position is $85,000 – $118,000 commensurate with education, experience and certification.
