Village of Wilmette, Part-Time Museum Coordinator

The Village of Wilmette is seeking to fill a Part-Time Museum Coordinator position with the Wilmette Historical Museum. The coordinator will work on Sundays for approximately 4 hours from 12:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. and report directly to the Museum Director.

General Responsibilities
The coordinator will be responsible for working independently to support the daily operations of the Wilmette Historical Museum on Sundays. The person in this position will assist museum visitors with research, greet and orient visitors to the museum, sell merchandise and event tickets, and answer telephone calls. Responsibilities may include assisting with the production of museum events and activities, and working on special projects as assigned. Position requires significant contact with the public in person and by telephone.

Position Requirements
The successful candidate will have a college degree, preferably in history, museum studies or a related field of study. The candidate must have significant experience working with the public and working independently with little supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to the success of this position. The successful candidate must be well organized and have the ability to multi-task. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Past Perfect software is preferred. Knowledge of American history and the Village of Wilmette is a plus.

Hourly Rate
The wage is $24.54 per hour and there are no other benefits associated with this position.

Selection Process
A conditional offer of employment will be contingent on the candidate successfully completing a background investigation and reference checks.
