Winnetka’s Public Works Department is seeking applicants for a temporary full-time position of Seasonal Laborer in the Fleet Division.
Primary Duties:
- Assist Fleet mechanics in performing basic maintenance, such as oil changes, basic preventative maintenance, fluid checks, and other services on Village fleet and equipment.
- Transport vehicles and parts between locations as needed.
- Perform general labor duties including, but not limited to, shop cleaning, organizing tools, inventorying parts and disposing waste materials.
- Assist mechanics with diagnosis or repair work as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of fuel usage, vehicle conditions, and maintenance activities.
- Follow safety procedures and safety protocols in the maintenance and repair of village vehicles and equipment.
- Assist with other public works related duties as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and/or willingness to learn fleet maintenance operations.
- Ability to read, clearly speak, and legibly write the English language.
- Valid driver’s license. CDL preferred.
Typical work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday.
Hourly Rate: $20 – $25 per hour depending on qualifications.
