The Director of Public Works is appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council and reports directly to the Mayor.
The Director of Public Works is directly responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the public works department and for the effective administration of the following operations: providing street, water, wastewater, electric, and gas management. The Director is responsible for the leadership and daily supervision of 15 full-time and 5 seasonal team members. The Director oversees and administers an annual $19,823,266 budget that includes Parks, Street, Capital Improvement, MFT, Water, Sewer, Electric, and Gas.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree – Engineering is preferred
- Minimum of four to six years of experience in utilities, public works, and/or engineering
- Supervisor and budgeting experience
- Certifications – Class 2 WW and Class C Water or willingness to pursue when hired
- Must live within 5 miles of city limits
- Ideal candidates will possess

- A blend of a people-oriented and task-oriented behavior style (IC or DC type Style) on the DISC.
Compensation and Benefits
The beginning salary range is between $80,000-$120,000 based on experience, and certification. The benefits are highly competitive, and they include the following:
