Village of Forest Park, Finance Assistant

The Village of Forest Park is seeking qualified individuals for the full-time position of Finance Assistant to perform financial and accounting work in support of the village’s overall financial goals. The position plays a key role in supporting the administration of core financial operations and the implementation of new initiatives.

 

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: providing support to the Finance Director with the annual budget preparation and annual audit, payroll processing, preparation of payroll tax returns and W-2 reconciliations, maintenance of payroll data files, general ledger and subsequent journal entries, monthly bank account reconciliation, and preparation of federal, state, and local fiscal reports including GEMT reporting.

Qualified applicants should have a strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices, ability to interpret, explain and apply financial policies, procedures and data, proficiency with accounting systems, excellent organizational and communication skills, strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently, ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, ability to treat customers and co-workers in a polite manner as an ambassador of the Village of Forest Park, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Experience with Springbrook municipal software a plus.

 

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a closely related field preferred.

 

Experience Requirements:

A minimum of three to five years of experience in governmental accounting or public sector financial operations is preferred.

Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of a degree in a business-related field

A background investigation will be conducted prior to consideration for the position. Starting salary range is $60,000 to $76,000 DOQ with excellent benefits. The position is non-exempt. Minimum 40 hours per week.
