Village of Willowbrook, Public Works Supervisor

The Village of Willowbrook is seeking a dedicated, hands-on, and service-oriented candidate to join its team as a Public Works Supervisor. This role is critical to maintaining and enhancing the Village’s infrastructure and ensuring the delivery of essential public services. The Public Works Supervisor will report directly to the Public Works Superintendent and will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the maintenance team, in addition to serving as the Village’s designated water operator.

This leadership role is ideal for someone with strong supervisory experience, technical expertise, and a commitment to public service and safety. The position plays an essential role in supervising staff, maintaining public infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct daily work assignments of public works maintenance
  • Serve as the Village’s designated water operator, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee maintenance and repairs of water mains, valves, hydrants, streets, sidewalks, parks, and stormwater infrastructure.
  • Perform water sampling and testing; maintain logs and
  • Manage seasonal operations including snow removal, landscaping, and tree
  • Conduct safety meetings and enforce compliance with OSHA and Village safety
  • Respond to service requests and emergencies promptly and
  • Coordinate with other departments, contractors, and utilities as

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a dependable leader with experience in municipal operations, infrastructure maintenance, and water system oversight. The Village seeks someone who leads by example, embraces a culture of safety and accountability, and is comfortable working in a team-oriented environment. The following qualifications are preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or technical degree
  • At least five years of experience in public works, utilities, or a related field, with two years in a supervisory role strongly desired.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license; CDL Class B and Illinois Class C Water Operator Certification (or ability to obtain within twelve months of hire).
  • Knowledge of municipal water systems, street and infrastructure maintenance, and public works best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and work order management
  • Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $90,000 to $115,000, depending on qualifications. The Village offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
