The Village of Hoffman Estates is looking for energetic, customer service-oriented candidates who have a passion for technology, exceptional communication skills and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment.
As part of the team you will:
- Take an active involvement with end user services including helpdesk and technical support services
- Support the development, monitoring, maintenance and support of all I.T. systems including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals, phone system and mobile devices
- Be able to prioritize and troubleshoot software and hardware issues
- Be able to present and explain concepts clearly and effectively
- Have experience managing Active Directory, AZURE, O365, SQL, backup/recovery, SAN/NAS and network devices
- Have experience with network switches and routers, wireless access points/controllers, firewalls, VPN, VoIP and networking protocols
- Have experience with different operating systems including Windows Server, Windows Desktop, Apple OSX and mobile IOS and Android
- Have a working knowledge of Single Mode and Multimode fiber cable and connection standards
- Have a working knowledge of IPv4, IPv6 and 802.11x protocols
- Have a high aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies
- Work well under pressure and be able to multitask various projects
COMPENSATION
Salary DOQ
2024 Hourly Range of $36.3848/hr – $52.6997/hr ($75,680 – $109,615 annually)

HOURS AND SCHEDULE
40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with on-call rotation
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPUTER SKILLS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Six months + related exp. in Hardware/Software support, Microsoft Windows
- A+ Certification or Network + Certification
- Valid Class D Illinois Driver’s License
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Information Technology Department is an internal service department that supports over 400 computer users Village-wide, with a focus on technology planning and maintenance for Village operations. The Information Technology Department is divided into two divisions:
- Technical and Network Support: responsible for network communications, hardware and software, training and support.
- Business Applications: fund accounting, human resources, benefits and payroll, licensing, utility billing, community development, and revenue applications.
The Village’s computer network is spread out across each municipal building with a combination of fiber optics and FCC Licensed microwave wireless.
