ENGINEERING INTERN

The Village of Burr Ridge, Illinois, is accepting resumes for an internship in the Community Development Department-Engineering Division.  Full-time enrollment in a four-year college or university with a specialization in Engineering is required. Civil, environmental, or construction engineering programs are preferred, but other disciplines will be considered. The internship will occur over the 2024 summer break for approximately 3 months. Typical hours will be Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but can be flexible depending on the candidate’s needs. The Engineering Intern will develop skills in pre-professional engineering work during this internship period. The selected candidate will assist the Village Civil Engineer with the annual Road Program, including performing site inspections, design studies, cost estimating, preparing detailed drawings, and other associated tasks. Job duties include assisting with design and inspection of maintenance-related projects; surveying; performing field inspections; reviewing building permit applications; performing engineering calculations; assisting Village-wide GIS development; and scanning plans and documents into electronic format.  This position will include both office and field activities in various conditions. Applicants must be highly motivated, possess a strong work ethic, and have effective communication skills.  All candidates must be at least 18 years of age and must submit to a pre-employment, post-offer drug screen and physical. All candidates must possess a current and valid Illinois driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
