Essential Duties: The Village Clerk is an Administrative employee who also holds an appointed Office in the Village and serves in both capacities under the direction of the Mayor. As an appointed officer, the Village Clerk has multiple statutory duties and responsibilities described in the Illinois Statutes and in the Riverwoods Municipal Code. As an employee in the Administration Department, the Village Clerk is also assigned multiple administrative tasks and duties as may be required to meet the service needs and operational objectives of municipal operations, focused on information and related support services. The Village Clerk may be called upon to assist citizens with voter registration, post information to the Village’s website, and serve as the Village FOIA and OMA Officer. As a statutory non-voting Officer of the Village Corporate Authority, the Village Clerk is responsible for attending two Regular Village Board Meetings and one Plan Commission meeting month Depending on qualification this 40 hour per week position will start at $28 per hour, plus generous medical, dental, and vision insurance availability, three weeks vacation after one year service, and expanded paid holidays, as well as participation in the IMRF pension program.
Required Qualifications: Experience working in an office environment with strong customer relations experience, excellent written and oral communications skills, including Microsoft Office experience. Must possess a combination of some College work in combination with 3-5 years experience in managing legal and official public documents is required. Bachelors degree with experience working in an administrative capacity in a unit of local government preferred and highly desired.
